The Counselor / Case Worker - Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a unique position in the substance use disorder treatment field because our East Hollywood facility, Socorro, offers a program fully in Spanish. Working at Socorro affords one the opportunity to provide services to a largely overlooked and underserved population in their own language, which is a loving exemplification of meeting someone where they're at. The Counselor / Case Worker is the main Case Worker assisting clients in discovering a way of life that can be lived without the use of chemicals, supporting clients through the recovery process, and assisting clients in the exploration of their lifestyles- emphasizing patterns of behavior.

Basic Function

Responsibilities
Keep a schedule of regular counseling appointments with clients and be available for non-scheduled counseling or crisis counseling when needed.Complete bio-psycho-social assessments for each client. From the assessment, develop a treatment plan, which includes goals and objectives. Through progress notes and other documentation, show progress or lack of progress the client is making toward achievement of his or her goals.Attend weekly Case Conferences to discuss clients progress in relation to their treatment plans. Identify problems or achievements through staff discussion.Attend weekly meetings with the treatment team, focusing on continued training regarding systems, procedures and policies of CRI-Help.Act as a liaison between clients and other service agencies involved in clients treatment, such as Probation, Parole, DPSS, EDD, DVR, along with referring case managers and insurance providers.Make occasional court appearances.Attend, and actively participate in, monthly in-service training sessions.Facilitate groups and educational classes as assigned by Director of Clinical Operations.Provide each client with an individualized Continuing Care Plan.Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner : this includes P.O. reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, aftercare plans, etc.Provide family support and education through conjoint sessions as well as family groups.Interface with all staff regarding client treatment issues.Participate in fundraising events and other activities as directed by Director of Clinical Operations.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills / Knowledge
Must be able to identify patterns common to the population served.Must be able to document client activities and / or carry out such written assignments is required. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required.Due to the program philosophy, all clinical staff must have a good understanding of the Narcotics Anonymous and / or Alcoholics Anonymous programs (the Twelve Steps).Must have the ability to establish a genuine therapeutic relationship with clients.Must have knowledge and ability to use counseling techniques to educate, elicit feelings, facilitate self-understanding, and motivate the client.Must have the ability to act as Case Manager, coordinating a continuum of treatment and / or services for clients.Education / Training
Position requires individual be registered or certified with CADTP, CAADE, or CCAPP, or be masters level BBS registered.Experience
Must have experience working in SUD treatmentMust have working knowledge of the 12 Steps of NA and AA.Working Conditions
Frequently remain in stationary positions, standing and / or sitting for prolonged periods.Occasionally crouching below the waist and / or reaching above the shoulders.Occasionally lifting and / or moving objects up to 20 lbs.Special Conditions
