Job Description: Battering Intervention Program (BIP) Coordinator/Group Facilitator
Position: BIP Coordinator/Group Facilitator
Contract Duration: 6 months
Location: Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico
Position Summary:
The Battering Intervention Program (BIP) Coordinator/Group Facilitator will play a critical role in providing support to court-mandated and voluntary participants in the Battering Intervention Program. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of domestic violence dynamics, and the ability to facilitate group discussions effectively. The Coordinator will conduct intakes, facilitate weekly groups, provide individual sessions, and maintain accurate client records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intake and Orientation:
- Interview court-mandated and volunteer participants for the intake process and provide curriculum orientation.
- Assess participants’ backgrounds and needs to tailor the intervention approach appropriately.
- Group Facilitation:
- Co-facilitate weekly BIP groups, implementing the Family Peace Initiative BIP curriculum while fostering a safe and supportive environment for participants.
- Engage participants in discussions, activities, and exercises that promote understanding of healthy relationships and accountability.
- Individual Sessions:
- Support Intake process
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain and update client files and system records on a weekly basis to ensure compliance and continuity in care.
- Document client progress and attendance according to organizational standards.
- Training Requirements:
- Complete training on the Family Peace Initiative BIP curriculum, the Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessment (ODARA), and any other CYFD and CCNNM mandated training.
- Community Collaboration:
- Network and maintain communication with key stakeholders, including CYFD, domestic violence courts (including Pueblos' Courts), law enforcement agencies, the District Attorney’s office, Public Defenders, probation officers, and other relevant community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Qualifications:
- Highschool Diploma
- Previous experience in facilitating groups, particularly in a domestic violence or intervention context, is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and the ability to implement intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information professionally.
- Proficiency in computer applications for record keeping and reporting.
