A dedicated and experienced Paralegal is being sought for a Special Needs Attorney based in Princeton, NJ. This role supports a legal practice specializing in the rights and services for individuals with special needs, ensuring meticulous case management and legal assistance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with case management technology and a passion for advocating on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with case management, including maintaining and organizing legal documents, case files, and client correspondence
- Support attorneys in the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal deadlines
- Schedule meetings, hearings, and appointments while managing attorney calendars
- Maintain communication with clients through email, client portal and telephone while providing updates and answering general inquiries under attorney supervision
- Assist with electronic filings in the Office of Administrative Law, as well as federal and state courts
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings to aid in case development
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in case management software, including Clio
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft 365, including Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with individuals with special needs or families, a plus
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in special needs law or a related legal field
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program
- Familiarity with special education law, disability law, or civil rights litigation.
