Position Overview
The MEP Project Manager will lead critical teams focused on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of high-impact commercial data center construction projects. This role will be essential in ensuring the seamless integration of MEP systems, optimizing performance, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
The MEP Project Manager will leverage technical expertise and project management skills to drive the successful execution of MEP components, balancing efficiency and innovation to meet client needs. Collaboration with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders will be key to delivering high-quality outcomes while managing timelines and budgets effectively.
Key Responsibilities
PROJECT LEADERSHIP: Oversee key personnel on a project site including project administrators, superintendents, and engineers to ensure the appropriate execution of work and management of timelines, budgets, and resources.
RESOURCE PLANNING: Create and maintain project budgets for project sites and programs. Procure and allocate resources for project execution in a timely manner.
COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING: Establish reliable and consistent methods of communication of project plans and progress to project personnel and stakeholders. Support the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process. Engage in vendor and supplier management as necessary.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Lead and mentor project personnel – specifically Assistant Project Managers - fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
SAFETY OVERSIGHT: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices throughout all project phases by conducting regular safety audits and promoting a safety-first culture among team members and stakeholders.
RISK MANAGEMENT: Effectively manage the quality control process throughout the project lifecycle. Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.
PERFORMANCE MONITORING: Regularly consult key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE: Expertise in commercial construction best practices as related to large-scale project sites.
MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL/PLUMBING EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in commercial construction projects, particularly data centers.
SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY: Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint for executive-level communications and Excel for managing project budgets. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Construction Management software (e.g., ProCore, Primavera P6) for document control and scheduling.
DOCUMENT INTERPRETATION: Ability to read construction documents and specifications, inclusive of construction drawings, contracts, scopes of work, financial documents such as Change Orders, Pay Apps, Purchase Orders, and other pertinent project related documents.
COMMUNICATION AND MATHMATIC PROFICIENCY: Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in mathematics and accounting.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: Proven ability to lead teams and deliver consistent results. Effective time and resource management skills. Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills.
CONTRACTUAL KNOWLEDGE AND RISK MANAGEMENT: Solid understanding of construction contracts to identify risk mitigation strategies that protect project profitability and company interests.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field; will consider minimum of 5 years practical experience
- Minimum of 5 years of professional commercial construction experience
- Must have MEP experience
- Commercial construction experience required; green field experience preferred
- Three or more years of project management experience in commercial construction practices and procedures. Industrial construction preferred, not required
- Strong working knowledge of construction methodologies, CSI building codes, and industry best practices
