We are looking for a Sr. Sales Engineer to join our team! In this role you would serve as the primary technical support for our Managed Detection & Response (MDR) offering during the sales process. This role combines deep cybersecurity expertise with strong interpersonal skills to help potential customers understand how our MDR solution enhances detection and response programs.
Key responsibilities include providing solution overviews, leading "day in the life" portal demonstrations, and collaborating with Account Executives and Channel Partners to develop and execute successful sales plans. Using your technical expertise and communication skills, you will highlight the value of our MDR solution, address customer needs, and deliver tailored solutions.
You will also build strong relationships with potential customers by understanding their challenges and demonstrating how our MDR platform strengthens their security posture. Through your efforts, you will contribute to the overall sales strategy, drive revenue growth, and play a critical role in expanding our market presence.

What You Will Be Doing?
In your designated region, you will engage directly with our potential customers, Sales Representatives, Channel Partner Representatives, and Sales Engineers. Your responsibilities include:
- Participating in discussions about our CORR (Cyber Operations Risk Response) and SOC capabilities.
- Demonstrating how our MDR offering integrates seamlessly into customers’ incident response workflows.
- Conducting scoping conversations focused on our core toolset, including EPP/EDR, SIEM, and Identity solutions.
- Collaborating with Account Managers to develop account-specific strategies.
- Delivering demonstrations of our ZTAP Portal and MobileSOC Application.
- Showcasing technical differentiators and use cases of third-party products to prospects and partners.
- Building relationships with presales technical resources from channel and product partners.
- Providing customer feedback to product management teams.
- Creating customer-facing materials and presentations that establish CRITICALSTART as a leader in Detection & Response.
- Delivering thought leadership presentations to larger audiences.
- Assisting customers in defining or refining key security project requirements.
- Leading services evaluations and MDR workshops when needed.
- Traveling 30%-40% within your region.
What You Will Bring?
To excel in this role and meet the position's requirements, the ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Cybersecurity Expertise: 5 years of experience in cybersecurity with a strong understanding of key concepts and practices.
- Technical Proficiency: 2 years of hands-on or program-level experience with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), EPP/EDR (Endpoint Protection and Response), or Identity products, demonstrating technical competence.
- Geographic Requirement: Reside within California, Midwest, or Mid-Atlantic region to effectively collaborate, engage with customers, and support regional sales efforts.
- Effective Communication: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, enabling clear communication across all levels, from executives to engineers, and at customer locations or conferences.
- Prioritization Skills: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize customer meetings, and maintain focus on schedules to address customer needs promptly.
- Objection Handling: Proven experience managing objections and positioning solutions against competitors, guiding customers toward the value of offerings.
- Attack Mitigation Knowledge: Understanding of leading attack types and how tools like SIEM, EPP/EDR, and Identity products mitigate these threats.
- MDR, MSSP, or Microsoft Security Experience: Background in Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Managed Security Service Providers (MSSP), or working with the Microsoft Security Suite.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CCSP to validate expertise.
- Channel Partnerships: Experience working with channel partners to drive sales and achieve mutual success. Demonstrates the ability to navigate and strengthen partner relationships to meet organizational goals.
