PARENT EDUCATOR (EARLY CHILDHOOD FOCUS)
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Crisis Nursery provides free around the clock emergency respite care for children birth through six years of age. The Crisis Nursery Parent Educator - Early Childhood Focus position is responsible for providing educational and supportive services to clients of the Crisis Nursery, through various methods including home visits, developmental screenings, and supporting children’s social emotional needs within the Crisis Nursery environment. The Parent Educator is also responsible to maintain client records, submit grant and funder reports as requested, and support the Crisis Nursery program with administrative responsibilities such as on-call rotation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Designs and/or facilitates a wide variety of educational and supportive services to agency clients, community participants, and Crisis Nursery staff and clients
· Collaborates with other agencies to promote and provide educational services to families
· Administers screenings and conducts assessments according to program requirements and client needs
· Identifies and recruits families in need of educational and family support services
· Develops client goals and evaluates progress, and accurately maintains documentation in case notes
· Ensures high ethical standard by preserving client confidentiality
· Conducts regularly scheduled visits according to grant and/or program requirements
· Provides educational services in a group setting or on an individual basis
· Maintains an appropriate, professional relationship with clients, families, staff and volunteers
· Ensures that a developmentally appropriate and exciting curriculum is consistently implemented
· Participates in a variety of internal/ external meetings/ groups
· Works with community agencies/groups to address unmet and special needs of families
· Attends required in-service trainings and professional workshops, including successful completion of 15 in-service hours of training annually.
· Collects, analyzes and maintains program data related to the Crisis Nursery program.
· Maintains comprehensive, accurate and orderly client files.
· Compiles & submits weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reports, upon request, for fulfillment of agency and grant requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- An Associate’s Degree from an accredited university in Early Childhood Education or in a field related to organization’s mission and services (i.e., Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or Childhood Development) IS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- A minimum of one full year of experience in early childhood education programs and service delivery to at-risk children and families
