Teacher Position Overview
The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement educational curriculum by creating engaging classroom activities based on early learning standards and best practices.
- Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching effective strategies.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to foster social, cognitive and emotional growth in children.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to academy policies and state regulations.
- Promote open communication with parents through regular updates and parent-teacher conferences.
- Safeguard a healthy classroom environment by maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards and ensuring child safety and security.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and standards.
- Participate in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and promote quality improvement.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of professional child care experience.
- 30 credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred; Lead teacher certification required, including Fundamentals of ECE course.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills, and ability to work well with others.
- A strong understanding of child development and excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain.
- Must clear full background check.
