What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Production position at Croft?
Description: Croft fabricates carbon-sequestering building panels for architects, contractors, builders and homeowners who want carbon-negative, high-performance building envelopes with minimum fuss. Our factory-crafted envelopes make for cleaner, safer work sites, a higher-durability buildings uncompromised by exposure to the elements. We utilize a panelized system, built in the factory from renewable resources that lock up passively captured atmospheric carbon for the lifetime of the building. No harmful chemicals to deal with, just lumber, fasteners, and compressed straw. Panels are built in our factory in Rockland, ME and then delivered and assembled on-site.
We are seeking a skilled Production Manager to oversee our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have expertise in carpentry, power tools, fabrication, and mechanical knowledge to ensure efficient production operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate production activities within the facility
- Supervise production staff, including training and performance evaluations
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet deadlines
- Ensure quality control standards are met throughout the manufacturing process
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to optimize production processes
- Identify opportunities to optimize production efficiency and safety protocols
- Develop training documentation and curriculum for production team
- Oversee Croft apprentice program
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed
Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Previous experience managing teams of 5-15 people
- Highly proficient in carpentry
- Ability to read, analyze, and redline architectural and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with power tools and hand tools for assembly and fabrication
- Proficiency with Google Suite, specifically Google Spreadsheets
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues
- Experience operating forklifts and telehandlers is a plus
- Experience with CAD and Sketchup is a plus
Requirements:

Full time positions begin at 32 hours per week. This position is located in Rockland Maine. Some weekend and evening work for site assembly may be necessary from time to time.
