General Description of an On-Site Supervisor with Cross Check
Daily:
- Auditing
Quality Audits must be performed on all employees to ensure a) work instructions are being followed; b) Summary Sheets, tags and other traceability paperwork is being filled out; c) Defects are not being missed and d) efficiency rates are being met. These Quality Audits should be performed more frequently on employees who have not passed the Competency checklist or on sorts which are new or more difficult. An Audit should be performed at minimum on all team members twice per week.
- Data Collecting
Collect all daily Summary Sheets from inspectors and check for completion; turn into Data Analyst Specialist. Fill out any required reports specific to your location.
- Inspection
Work alongside team in sorts when possible, being a coach and a leader, not just a boss.
- Ensure a good work environment
Ensure all safety procedures are being followed and a respectful work environment is encouraged. Assist Cross Check Management in upholding all policies and procedures found within the Handbook
Bi-Weekly:
- Performance Reviews
Complete Performance Reviews of employees every pay day.
- Customer Interaction
Be a liaison between Cross Check and the Customer. Meet with the customer on a bi-weekly basis to see if all expectations and needs are being met and look for opportunities to improve.
As Needed:
- Work Instructions
Ensure adequate work instructions are present, visible and all inspectors are trained and signed off on them. Must create work instructions when suitable work instructions are not provided by customer.
- Disciplinary Actions
Discipline when necessary by creating Accountability Action Plans, having open communication and terminating when necessary.
- Training of new employees
- FIRST DAY – Tour of the factory (Restrooms, break areas), reading and signing of work instructions, worked with by supervisor or other experienced team member
2. BEFORE DAY 30 – If they have passed a minimum of five audits and are performing to the same standard as an experienced Inspector, then update the Training Matrix.
Education:
High School (equivalent) is preferred.
Experience:
Cross Check always promotes from within, when possible. At least one year of manufacturing experience is required.
Skills:
Leadership, communication, problem solving and organization. Ability to read and write English and basic math skills are also required.
Physical Demands:
Supervisors will be required to stand for at least 8 hours a day with periodic walking, periodic lifting (15 to 35 pounds depending on the location), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and exceptional vision (able to see small defects, including differences in color).
Other Requirements:
Supervisors are required to wear a Cross Check shirt or vest, jeans or suitable work pants, steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. Customers may require additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as sleeves, hard hats, face shields, gloves, etc. All clothing and PPE requirements imposed by either Cross Check or the customer are for the employee’s safety and must always be followed and kept in good condition.
