What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic- Ripon position at Cross Resource Group?
- Shift/Schedule: Typically, 12-hour shifts 6 days per week during pack. Pack for Ripon typically begins mid-late June and can end as late as mid-end of November. Halfway through the season (usually September) mechanics will switch shifts so everyone gets the same time on days and nights. During the off-season, schedule changes to 5 8-hour days or 4 10-hour days per week.
- Supervisors do work with employees to accommodate needed time off using vacation or personal time. During the season, we do not usually give days off (other than the one scheduled day per week). Mechanics are welcome to switch days amongst themselves but are expected to communicate changes with their supervisor. All requested time off is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Assigned mechanical job duties to maintain and repair food processing equipment. Completes repairs during the processing season to meet production goals. Overhaul and install plant equipment during non-production periods to be ready for the next scheduled production run.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, repair and maintain machinery, and equipment throughout the facility
- Trouble shoot, repair, and replace machinery as required
- Read sketches and blueprints to determine layout of assigned work
- Design, fabricate, weld, and install equipment as required
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and PM completed
- Monitor equipment operation making any necessary adjustments
- Ensure that GMP's (General manufacturing Practices), safety rules and regulations are being followed and enforced
- Other duties as assigned
- At least 1 - 3 years mechanical experience in manufacturing and/or food processing
- Must have good attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong maintenance/mechanical skills
- Willingness and ability to work and function in a team environment
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work long hours during production season
