Overview
The Crossing National, Inc. is seeking professionals to implement the City Connects program within our school in partnership with Marian University. City Connects, a school-based collaboration among schools, community agencies, and Boston College, is reinvigorating a core function of schools by implementing an innovative model of systemic student support. City Connects assesses the strengths and needs of each student in the school and connects students with a tailored set of supports and resources from inside and outside the school.
Responsibilities
- Model Crossing’s Core Values and 7 Habits in effective leadership.
- Follow Best Practices in operations of campus model.
- Form positive relationships with students and engage with them regularly.
- Actively participate in all Staff required events (family time, heart check, debrief, Staff professional development, graduations, staff celebrations, staff spiritual retreats, and banquets., etc.)
- Demonstrates strong commitment to the Crossing’s mission, strategic plan, and students.
- Supports strategic plan initiatives in the areas of funding, fullday programming, students served, and the Indiana Department of Education compliance.
- Models effective leadership consistent with the Crossing’s Professional Growth Model Structure.
- Quickly responds to feedback and organizationwide strategic plan initiatives.
- Ensures all locations operate in a safe and orderly manner.
- Forms positive relationships with students. Advocates for students when needed.
- Regularly interacts with and actively listens to students to learn about their stories, challenges, and motivations.
- Regularly and appropriately engages students after school hours.
- Holds students accountable for their behavior, and implements appropriate discipline.
Job Function
- Establish and lead a Student Support team and process in the school that identifies and responds to the strengths and personal developmental needs of each and every child in the school.
- Connect students to a range of prevention, early intervention and intensive services programs that address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of each student.
- Develop and enhance community partnerships with varied community agencies to meet the identified needs of students, families, and the school.
- Collaborate with The Crossing team to blend the City Connects model.
- Promote the Crossing model of student support to the school community, families and community agencies.
- Engage families and caregivers in understanding and supporting the education of their children and the ways in which academic outcomes are enhanced by serving the social / emotional and personal development needs of the child.
- Together with community partners, arrange for the provision of services to address out of school factors as part of the ongoing school student support team
- Collect data on the implementation of the model and the delivery of services
About Crossing School of Business & Entrepreneurship
The Crossing is a faith-based, state-accredited High School in the State of Indiana that offers academics, job training and faith-based character education for students who have struggled in the traditional High School setting and/or are seeking to develop essential job training skills. Academics are modeled to fit the needs of each student through a self-paced curriculum and by maintaining a balance of certified teachers and professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Student job training is provided through partnerships with local businesses, School Based Enterprises and student-run micro businesses under the direction and supervision of our Instructors. Faith-Based Character education is provided through daily Family Time, quarterly Family Nights, regular Student Engagement and weekly God Talk. Our Mission Statement is, Empowering struggling students to become contributing members of their communities through academics, job training and faith-based character education.
