JOB SUMMARY
- Audio Visual Technicians are responsible for the organization and execution of live technical elements at Crossroads. This may include setup and support for rehearsals, live, virtual, or hybrid events. Technicians work with staff and volunteers to prepare and operate audio, lighting, video, and other necessary equipment. This role requires a unique mixture of technical knowledge and ability balanced with strong communication and leadership. This position reports directly to a Senior Audio Visual Technician during the week and also reports to/works closely with Producers, Worship Leaders, Volunteer Coordinators, and all other teams in our auditoriums and event spaces. AV Technicians work closely with site staff and volunteers to create environments that meet the creative and teaching objectives set by the Central Services Experience Team. Audio Visual Technicians will also work closely with other projects related to experiences, such as equipment maintenance, video production, theatrical set changes, and training staff and volunteers in the operation of technical equipment.
JOB OVERVIEW
This position supports event projects by assisting in a technologist role to provide support for as requested.
- Provide event AV production set-up and support for rehearsals, live, virtual and hybrid events including, but not limited to, cameras, lighting, and sound.
- Proactively test and troubleshoot live and virtual meeting equipment and solutions.
- Be responsive and proactive to address client requests. Deliver a high level of customer service.
- Coordinate with event staff to understand flow of event and expectations for speakers, presentations, and production.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- On a weekly basis this may include:
- Operating any necessary equipment during rehearsals and run-throughs
- Troubleshooting technical systems as needed
- Participation in production team meetings
- Ensuring smooth technical transitions throughout the service identifying areas for improvement
- Working with the site experience team to adapt and execute changes as needed following the run-through.
- Training technical volunteers
- Performing routine maintenance of AVL systems (hardware and software)
- Capturing and distribution of event-specific audio and or video content as needed
- Planning and execution of special services and events
- Participating in other projects such as video shoots, recordings, student ministry events, and camps as needed
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma and equivalent work experience
- College Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENT
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of Google web platform and willingness to learn other software tools as needed
- Organized, disciplined with priorities, meticulous attention to detail
Desired Technical Experience:
- Extensive working knowledge of live event technical systems in one or more areas of discipline (pro audio, video, lighting, rigging, etc)
- Extensive experience in on & off-site troubleshooting and technical support for live production systems with a good ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Driven & independent worker with a high attention to detail and desire of excellence

Physical Requirements:
- Performs effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints
- Must be able to walk up to 5 miles, standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching as duties required
- Must be able to lift up 25 to 50 lbs
- Able to work independently without direct supervision
Scheduling / Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends and other high impact events at Crossroads.
