Crossroads Continuum has an immediate need for a Senior Accountant to join its team and collaborate on providing full cycle accounting responsibilities.These include the opportunity to learn / backup the Controller role. Bachelor's degree in accounting / finance required; Master's degree in accounting / finance and / or CPA highly desirable as is 5 years of experience in an accounting role, especially in a non-profit environment. Will consider recent graduates with demonstrated skills and experience.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely entry and reconciliation of all monthly accounting data to produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements according to established accounting policies & procedures. The Senior Accountant will also act as the backup to the Controller and Staff Accountant.

Oversees Accounts Receivable & BillingsMonthly reconciliation of student tuition and home services invoices.
Reconciliation of Accounts Receivable.Monthly reconciliation of all student billings using a Tuition Proof Schedule.Oversees Accounts Payable & DisbursementsReview of vendor invoices and staff expense reports (approvals, coding & entry).
Preparation and distribution of weekly cash disbursements check runs.Reconciliation of vendor statements to vendor Accounts Payable.Distribution and reconciliation of petty cash disbursements.Review and analyze (coding & entry) monthly company credit card transactions.Oversees Payroll ProcessingAssist Controller with Bi-weekly processing of organization payroll.
Payroll reconciliation.Manages Cash FlowEnsures timely deposits.
Actively manages invoicing / receivables and payables.Reconcile / monitor restricted fund balances.Assist with financing and investment analysis.General LedgerMonthly close of the General Ledger by the 20th of each month.
Accrual of all out-of-period expenses.Preparation of monthly closing journal entries.Monthly analysis / reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.Monthly analysis / reconciliation of all payroll & benefits expense accounts (payroll proof).Monthly analysis / reconciliation of material expense accounts compared to budget.Financial Statements & ReportingPrepare regular cash flow reports.
Assist Controller with preparation of monthly Financial Statements.Assist Controller with annual budget preparation and analysis.Prepare ad-hoc reporting and modelling as required.Audit / OtherAssist in the preparation of reports and schedules for the annual audit.
Answer accounting and financial questions, as needed.Assist in the development and implementing of accounting policies and procedures.Assist in the supervision of the Accounting Assistant and Accounting AssociateAssist Controller in monitoring compliance as it relates to regulations, policies and procedures, best practices across all financial interfaces.Stays current on accounting, industry, and regulatory changes which impact business operations.Act as the backup to the Controller and / or Staff AccountantEducational and Experiential Requirements :
Master's Degree in accounting or finance or CPA preferred.Minimum of 5 years' experience in the nonprofit field highly desired.Substantial knowledge of GAAP, GAS, Massachusetts UFR, OMB Circular A-122, etc.Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and accounting software and applications; QuickBooks Online experience preferred.Skill and Ability Requirements :
