Job Description
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the primary duty of the Skills Trainer-1 is responsible for helping participants achieve the goals and objectives outlined in Individualized Support Plans (ISP), Behavior Management Guidelines (BMGs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
General Responsibilities:
40 hrs.
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, the primary duty of the Skills Trainer-1 is responsible for helping participants achieve the goals and objectives outlined in Individualized Support Plans (ISP), Behavior Management Guidelines (BMGs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure the supervision and safety of assigned participants
- Complete high-quality work with minimal errors.
- Follow and be familiar with the guidelines in the Employee Handbook.
- Follow and be familiar with the guidelines in the Parent Handbook.
- Comply with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
- Drive program participants and staff in Crossroads Continuum vehicles as needed. (During program hours only)
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Aid in daily living activities, including self-care and hygiene, food shopping and preparation, budgeting, leisure activities, and social skills.
- Support individuals in accessing the community safely and as independently as possible.
- Create and implement social groups.
- Provide case management for up to three clients
- Maintain case clients’s program book per guidelines.
- Update/create case clients’s program book per new ISP within 5 program days of it being signed.
- Update/create materials for case clients as needed
- Update/create curriculum sheets as needed.
- Update/create behavior data sheets as needed.
- Update Behavior Management Guidelines, as assigned by the Program Manager.
- Maintain case clients’ electronic files per guidelines.
- Summarize and enter data daily.
- Monitor program participant’s progress and immediately alert the Team Leader of needed changes.
- Assist the Team Leader in program development and modification.
- Communicate parent concerns immediately to the Team Leader and Program Manager
- Complete end-of-day tidying responsibilities of case clients’ materials and the program rooms.
- Follow lines of communication specified in the Organizational Chart.
- Share relevant information with colleagues and supervisors.
- Asks questions when something is unknown or unclear.
- Actively recognize the accomplishments and contributions of others.
- Accept performance feedback gracefully.
- Check and respond to email daily.
- Practices confidentiality and maintain a high standard of ethics.
- Show support for Crossroads Continuum.
- Serve as an ambassador for Crossroads Continuum.
- Demonstrate punctuality and an appropriate attendance record.
- Complete timecards according to protocol.
- Meets assigned deadlines with minimal prompts.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings.
- Attend Crossroads Continuum events (e.g., Open House, Annual 5K Walk/Run).
- High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in education, behavior analysis, or related field, preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in the field of autism, education, or human services field preferred
- A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation is required.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check including references, CORI, and fingerprinting.
- Interest in building a career in nonprofit service for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Caring, compassionate, hardworking, and punctual.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to pass a background check
- The ability to move quickly and confidently to intervene when protective holds and/or movements are necessary.
- The ability to pursue a bolting student.
- The ability to successfully complete Safety Care training
- Ability to physically work with the client (may involve running, squatting, lifting, prompting and physical management)
