Average of 40 hours per week. Must be available Monday - Friday 8am to 6pm. Two Saturdays a month, 9am to 1 pm. Your weekly schedule will vary slightly.
Motor Vehicle License Clerk
A non-supervisory position that performs a variety of detailed and responsible work including, but not limited to: processing of title registrations, renewals, limited driver’s licenses, for Driver and Vehicle Services and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licenses.
This is NOT a government job, we are a private company.
This position involves a high level of public contact, assisting and explaining licensing procedures and requirements in a courteous and prompt manner. This position involves a large amount of data entry, excellent data entry skills are a requirement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists customers, with excellent customer service, at one of the customer service stations and on the telephone. Assuring prompt, high quality and respectful service, maintain a high degree of accuracy. Maintaining a high level of integrity and character at all times
- Prioritize work duties, customers, daily data entry and reports. Complete work assignments in a thorough , accurate and timely manner . Ability to multi-task is a necessity.
- Teamwork, aware of what is happening around you so you can assist other employees with the workload, to help ensure excellent, prompt customer service. Communicate effectively and courteously with other staff and supervisors
- Maintain data privacy as required by the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Natural Resources
- Accepting and reviewing a variety of forms and documents related to the procurement of licenses, registrations, permits, and other service counter transactions to ensure complete and accurate information is provided
- Calculates fees and receives payment, related to the transactions processed, reconciles individual money drawer on a daily basis with transactions processed
- Issues appropriate license plates, stickers, and permits to customers, ensures inventory control at all times, assists with daily inventory reports
- Compiles and inputs data into various computer programs, generates reports on a daily basis
- Offers customer service in the resolution of routine problems or complaints.
- These examples do not include all possible tasks in the position and doesn't limit the assignment of related tasks to the job of title clerk.
Essential job functions

Ability to handle cash, including giving change and counting cash, including mathematical aptitude to balance a cash drawer
Ability to work using a high degree of memorization, concentration and judgment in interpreting practices and procedures
Ability and aptitude to operate office equipment; inlcuding but not limited to 10-key calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone and computer keyboard
Ability to lift boxes usually under 20 lbs
Ability to concentrate and perform detailed work in an environment with high involvement from customers at counter and phone, including ability to work calmly and effectively with challenging customers
Ability to effectively handle stressful situations in a fast-paced environment with constant activity and pressure of deadlines and customers demands
Ability and aptitude to work with a variety of computer programs and to perform data entry on a computer keyboard with exceptional speed and accuracy.
Must possess a valid drivers license, with a good driving record. Position may require occasional use of a personal vehicle.'
