This role requires working with equipment such as Bridgeport mills, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, drills, ironworkers, and punches to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
Responsibilities:
- Read job specifications from shop drawings or blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Set stops or guides to the specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
- Position workpieces against stops or align layout marks with dyes or blades.
- Operate machines by pushing buttons or depressing pedals.
- Monitor machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Measure workpiece dimensions to ensure accuracy.
- Perform minor maintenance on machines, including oiling machines, dyes, and workpieces.
- Set up machines and change forming dyes as required.
- Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces to designated areas.
- Notify Purchasing of material needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following good housekeeping practices.
- Follow all safety protocols and shop safety rules.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED, with 6 months to 1 year of related experience or training; or equivalent education and experience, including the ability to read shop drawings and perform machine maintenance.
Basic computer skills in a Windows environment and experience with ERP systems.
Strong mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to perform basic calculations using a calculator.
Ability to read and use tape measures, overhead cranes, forklifts, combination squares, jib cranes, wrenches, drill bit sharpeners, and screwdrivers.
Demonstrates integrity, teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills.

Physical requirements:- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
- Engage in twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to see colors and adjust focus as needed.
Safety requirements: Must wear OSHA-approved safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
Must be willing to work various shifts and flexible hours as needed.
