Quality Inspector/Machine Operator

We are seeking a skilled Quality Inspector. This part-time role is ideal for a semi-retired machinist or inspector who wants to stay active in the trade without full-time hours. You will perform detailed inspections on machined parts and support quality assurance efforts.

Optional CNC machine operation is available for additional hours if you’re comfortable running mills or lathes.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspection & Measurement:

  • Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision tools.

  • Conduct both in-process and final inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications.

• Documentation & Quality Control:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Document inspection results and contribute to overall shop quality initiatives.

• Optional Machine Operation:

  • Operate CNC mills or lathes during periods of low inspection volume to support production, if qualified.

• General Support:

  • Assist with various quality-related tasks as needed to support a small, high-quality shop environment.

Requirements

• Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in machining or quality inspection.

• Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.

  • Strong understanding of measurement techniques and tolerance verification.

  • CNC machine operation is a plus but not required.

• Personal Attributes:

  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working independently.

  • Excellent communication skills for documenting findings and interacting with team members.
