Position Summary:
Deaf Community Services, a division of Easterseals Crossroads, is hiring a Staff Interpreter. This full-time position will provide ASL interpretation for staff and consumers in various settings. The Staff Interpreter also acts as a cultural liaison, complies with the Professional Code of Conduct as outlined by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and mentors students in conjunction with approved Interpreter Training Programs.

Essential Functions:
1. Interpret an average of 25 hours per week in a variety of settings.
2. Collaborate with colleagues and share general ideas and/or specific concerns which may arise through interpreting situations.
3. Mentor practicum students from approved ITP’s toward their professional growth.
4. Possess and maintain the Indiana Interpreter Certificate (IIC).
5. Exercise discretion in handling confidential information and honor RID’s Code of Professional Conduct.
6. Maintain accurate billing records in the interpreting scheduling software, uSked.
7. Advocate for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
8. Maintain a positive presence in the community representing DCS.
9. Participate in all DCS activities and team meetings.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.
Education, Licenses, or Certifications:
- Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability
- Bachelor’s Degree in ASL/English Interpreting or equivalent field
- Indiana Interpreter Certificate
- National Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) is preferred
Working Hours: This position works 37.5 hours per week. A typical schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with adjustments/flex-time as needed).
