What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Management Intern position at Crow Wing, County of (MN)?
This is a temporary student worker position limited to not more than 640 hours per calendar year. Student worker requirements, defined as person who has graduated from post-secondary institution and is within two weeks of graduation or currently a student of a post-secondary institution.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with Crow Wing County's overall response to large scale disasters and events.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in the development of local and regional emergency preparedness plans (Emergency Operations Plan, All Hazard Mitigation Plan) and continuity of operations plans.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director by collaborating and coordinating with local, regional, and state officials in the direction and operation of the County emergency management program including the interpretation of policies to maintain compliance with policies and state and federal guidelines.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director / Crow Wing County Unmanned Aerial Systems (CWCUAS) Coordinator with management, training, and deployment of the CWCUAS team.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director by monitoring contracts for service; plans and coordinates activities with local government officials, fire chiefs and other public safety officials.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with planning, developing, conducting, and coordinating emergency services training programs and disaster exercises for law enforcement, fire, EMS, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, airport, local governments, private industry, and voluntary agencies.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in providing technical assistance and consultation to the County and its municipalities, townships, schools, private businesses, and voluntary organizations supporting emergency management.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with research, preparation, writing, and submittal of grant applications for the emergency management program.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in preparing various reports and documents including but not limited to damage assessment figures and grant reporting. Providing analysis and recommendation for program planning and funding.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in creating educational materials and public safety information for distribution via media, social media, and internet.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in recruiting, training, and coordinating disaster volunteers including SKYWARN Weather Spotters.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with the management of Everbridge, Crow Wing County’s Mass Notification System.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with managing Crow Wing County’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) for Alert Originators.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with implementation of outdoor warning system activation protocols.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in providing information; develops and presents educational programs to the departments, county employees, law enforcement, fire, EMS, hospitals, clinics, schools, colleges, civic groups, community/general public, state and local service providers/professionals and to Boards, Minnesota Department of Health, Department of Minnesota Homeland Security and others in need of program expertise in emergency preparedness and response.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director in activating the Emergency Operations Center.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with managing, inventorying, and programming Crow Wing County’s 800 MHz radio equipment inventory.
- Assists the Emergency Management Director with the identification, certification and implementation of Crow Wing County’s Shelter program in with collaboration with Crow Wing County Public Health.
