Job Title: School Bus Driver
Job Summary: The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related activities. This role requires adherence to traffic laws and safety regulations while ensuring a positive and supportive environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation: Operate the school bus in a safe and responsible manner, following established routes and schedules.
- Student Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of students while on the bus, maintaining order and addressing any behavioral issues as needed.
- Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe working condition, including checking brakes, lights, and other essential systems.
- Emergency Procedures: Be prepared to execute emergency procedures and first aid as necessary; maintain knowledge of school district policies.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with school officials, parents, and students regarding schedules, routes, and any changes.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, incidents, and mileage.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and safety meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a bus driver preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and operate a large vehicle.
Work Environment:
- Primarily operates in a school district environment, traveling various routes.
