What are the responsibilities and job description for the QSN: 2025-2026 Middle School (Academic Support and Intervention) Counselor position at Crowley ISD?
- Master’s degree in counseling, education, career development, or a related field (required).
- State certification as a school counselor (preferred or required based on district policies).
- Academic Counseling & Student Success: Provide and coordinate course selection for rising 5th, 6th, and 7th-grade students. Assist 8th-grade students in choosing a Career & Technical Education (CTE) program of study. Balance of classes of the master schedule and adjust student schedules as needed.
- Student Growth & Exploration: Guide students in exploring academic strengths, career interests, leadership roles, and extracurricular opportunities. Assist students in developing organizational and study skills to support academic success.
- Academic Coaching & Support: Assist students with study skills, goal-setting, organization, and time management to ensure academic success. Help students explore career interests, leadership opportunities, and extracurricular involvement. Monitor student academic progress, provide interventions, and ensure student achievement. Identify and support at-risk students through academic JOB DESCRIPTION interventions and counseling. Attend and coordinate 504 meetings and participate in ARD meetings to support student needs.
- Career & Future Planning: Introduce students to career exploration tools, interest inventories, and early planning for high school pathways. Plan and organize career and college fairs to expose students to future pathways.
- Student Leadership Development: Encourage and facilitate student participation in clubs, student government, community service, and mentoring programs. Organize and plan college visits and academic field trips to promote higher education awareness.
- Collaboration with Educators: Work closely with teachers to identify student needs.
- Family & Community Engagement: Partner with parents and guardians to provide resources, workshops, and guidance on adolescent development and academic success strategies. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, academic planning, and behavioral support.
- Individual & Group Counseling: Offer one-on-one and small-group sessions focused on personal growth, emotional wellness, and academic motivation. Identify students in need of intervention services and work collaboratively with support staff to develop plans.
- Crisis Support: Collaborate with administrators and counselors on crisis response planning to ensure student safety. Provide immediate support for students in crisis and connect them with appropriate resources when necessary.
- Program Leadership & System Support: Plan, organize, and evaluate the school’s comprehensive counseling program. Ensure compliance with district and state policies related to counseling, student support, and intervention services. Other: 19. 20. Perform any and all duties as assigned. - Salary determination will be based on verified relevant work experience.
- Salary will be adjusted to start date.
- Stipends include additional days during the program academic year as outlined in the stipend agreement.
