What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intramural and Recreation Graduate Intern position at Crown College?

DEFINITION:
The Intramural Sports and Recreation Graduate Intern coordinates Intramural sports as well as indoor/outdoor recreation opportunities for students and assists in leading the overall health and wellness initiatives at Crown College.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: None
EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:
- Works out of an office and lives on campus in a designated apartment. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, personal computer and required programs, printer, fax machine, calculator, copy machines, and other equipment as the position requires.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- General active support toward the fulfillment of the mission, values, goals, and objectives of Student Development
- Overall planning, preparing, marketing, and recruiting toward a thriving Intramural sports and recreational events program at the college.
- Lead at least 4 “season” sports per year and organize at least 6 “event” sports and/or recreation activities per year.
- Update and secure compliance for the Intramural Handbook
- Recruit and coordinate officials, team managers, and Intramural Interns.
- Assist with the planning and execution of Welcome Week.
- Actively participate in Grad Intern cohort meetings, self-care, leadership training and other Student Development meetings
- Serve as a resource for Student Development staff with other campus events, administration, and programming.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Candidates should exhibit leadership ability, helping skills, conflict resolution and organizational ability.
- Agreement and personal alignment with the Crown College Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Mobility that allows on-going interaction with students
- Able to lift and carry loads of at least 25 pounds.
- Able to sit and counsel/mentor students for at least 45 minutes per session.
- Physically able to drive college vans.
- Able to stay up late (1 AM or so) and still conduct office hours and meetings the next day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Acceptance into graduate program at Crown College (Graduate Interns must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credits per fall and spring term to maintain their position.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Student leadership experience in a Christian college or university
- Direct involvement in a college or university’s Intramural Sports program
