Job Description
The Opportunity
Crown Electrokinetics has an incredible opportunity for a Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership in our world class R&D team driving technology commercialization of Crown’s smart window film, DynamicTint™. This is a rare opportunity to build the product roadmap, culture, and go-to-market strategy of a proprietary product that is disrupting the smart glass industry and making a real difference in the world.
What You Will Do
· Foster a learning culture in driving the R&D of our electrokinetic technology and the commercial application of our technology, exercise good judgment in taking calculated risks, and engage in ongoing feedback
· Build a comprehensive product launch roadmap and go-to-market strategy that includes well defined milestones and commitment to staying on schedule
· Create a product development work structure for the team, implementing process and structure in a way that is conducive to progress
· Build a collaborative team of passionate, high performers and encourage a collaborative environment where individual excellence is guided by a common goal of achievement
· Ensure a seamless communication between different parts of the technology and product development systems, including hardware, software, and other tech functions as we continue the go-to-market path
· Inspire team members to consistently challenge themselves in developing best practices and push their performance boundaries
· Utilize a data driven approach to establish metrics of quantifying progress, and make assessments about what needs to be done to increase progress
· Communicate with leadership on opportunities for the technology from a customer centric point of view
Qualifications
Your Qualifications
· M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical degree is required; PhD is a plus
· Strong background in innovation and invention in the physical sciences (electronic materials, polymer materials, semiconductor fabrication/materials, electro optical materials, etc.)
**Knowledge of smart glass, electrochromic, thermochromic and photochromic materials, as well as other relevant thin film technologies
· Successful track record of launching and commercialization of new products within the hardware/physical science realm in a customer driven industry
· Experienced in creating a technology roadmap with milestones and metrics for quantifying progress
· Process-oriented with the ability to implement structure, best practices, and inspire a standard of high performance
· Forward thinking mindset in developing a technology strategy that is structured to not only meet current needs, but that is scalable for the future
· Experience owning the full technology lifecycle (lab invention, maturation, testing, adding more features/performance)
· Ability to share delivery with other stakeholders and have strategic discussion for additional opportunities to use the technology
· Strong knowledge of Product Development and Experimental Design
· Excellent communication skills at all levels, from a highly technical audience to stakeholders and customers
· Agile and flexible with reporting structures, especially as the team grows
· Ability to perform in a dynamic and collaborative work environment
· Experience managing the growth of a company to nearly double in a short time frame
· Tech startup experience a huge plus
