What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Crown Packaging Corporation?
Overall Objective: Assist the CFO in performing financial/accounting duties. This position requires the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement and decisions daily.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards. Ensure all reports are accurate and completed on time.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger reconciliation process, ensuring the accuracy of financial data and compliance with company policies.
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all financial activities are properly recorded, reconciled, and reported.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and ensure timely and accurate processing of payments and collections.
- Payroll: Manage and process payroll for the company, ensuring compliance with labor and tax laws.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, providing weekly or monthly reports, and ensuring management is adequately informed of the liquidity for the company’s operational needs.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to ensure financial data integrity and prevent fraud.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Audit & Compliance: Manage the preparation for audits, ensuring all financial statements and records are prepared for external audits, and ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
- Taxes: Work with outside auditors to prepare company tax returns, ensuring information and reports are accurate and up to date
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient operations and professional growth.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting
- Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of Accounting, ERP, Payroll, Office Suite, and databases
- Certified Public Accountant license preferred
