Job Description

Crown Poly, Inc. was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA (Huntington Park). The company was founded on and continues to expand through innovation and manufacturing of patented supermarket packaging products. We are the market leader in value-added plastic packaging supplies and our patented Pull-N-Pak® produce bagging system maintains a U.S. majority market share of over 40% in its category. We have a second product line with our patented grocery bagging system and have now introduced a retail consumer trash can liner.

Job Summary:

Reports directly to and works under the supervision of the General Manager. The job of Purchasing Agent is to purchase raw materials, minor equipment, services, and consumables for the following departments: production, shipping, engineering, and administrative offices, as well as responding to related inquiries and maintaining vendor/source information and inventories.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and attend weekly meetings with the General Manager
  • Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs of specific production items
  • Research potential vendors
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery
  • Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
  • Conduct market research to identify pricing trends
  • Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices
  • Prepare cost analyses
  • Maintain updated records of invoices and contracts
  • Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
  • Liaise with receiving staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition
  • Liaise with plant and warehouse staff to review inventory levels
  • Maintain strong working relationships with our vendors
  • Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communications with those vendors
  • Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on weekly reports
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing arrangements with vendors when it is beneficial to the company
  • Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies
  • Complete any tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • BS preferred
  • 2 years’ experience in a purchasing or Procurement role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Proven history of effective supply management
  • Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Knowledge of market research
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems

Work Environment:

This position will spend 95% of the time in an office environment. During time spent in the manufacturing plant, this position is subject to moderate noise levels, very light dust, high and low temperatures and other standard elements of a manufacturing environment. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 85% sitting, 10% walking, and 5% standing.
