Community Participation Support DSP Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a variety of settings within our local community.
- Mentor our individuals to live active, safe, and fulfilling lives by helping the individual participate in their local community.
- Follow the individual’s support plan, knowing the goals they want to reach, and find fun, unique ways to increase their community involvement to meet these goals.
- Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Independence to work within the community and creativity to find opportunities for community involvement.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families, and their caregivers as well as the DSPs team.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor to provide emotional support to individuals.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid, current PA driver’s license and successfully complete a driving history record check.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen and criminal background check.
- Reliable transportation to travel between and throughout the Johnstown and Somerset areas.
