A full-time Advocate that works on site at a CRS client hospital, partnering with hospital staff to help identify financial assistance programs for the uninsured population. The Advocate assists with the application process and all follow up processes with all State and Federally funded assistance programs, including but not limited to Medicaid, Disability and other programs. **Disability experience a plus**
An Advocate not only acts as an advocate for the patient, but also serves as a liaison between CRS, client hospitals, patients and State/Government agencies in a collaborative effort to facilitate eligibility coverage, with any payer source that may be available to cover current and future medical expenses.
A part-time clerical assistant will help the associates in any way that is needed; this may include database entry, paperwork collection, phone calls to patients, and other related follow up.

Specific Responsibilities
- Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage and/or federal and state assistance programs. Responsible for conducting assessments of patient requirements, and walking patients through processes.
- Obtain relevant documentation required for Eligibility and/or Disability determination, completing and filing all pertinent applications.
- Initiate and maintain proper follow up with the patient, client hospital and government agencies to ensure completion of the account specific case work.
Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma, hospital/medical business office experience preferred
- Understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient, CRS and the client hospital (HIPAA)
- Be well organized, have excellent communication skills and be computer literate, be proficient in both Microsoft excel and word and be able to type at least 50 wpm
Assistance with charity / financial programs, as well as hospital collections experience would be a plus. Bilingual also a plus to the position.
