We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Energy Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing energy-efficient solutions and performing data analysis to optimize energy systems. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively on various projects aimed at improving energy performance. The Energy Engineer will manage Energy Management engagements for one or more buildings simultaneously, meeting with building staff, investigating building systems, identifying project opportunities, completing conceptual designs with vendors, presenting projects for approval, managing implementation, performing M&V, and reporting for NYC Energy Local Law compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Investigate and analyze existing building equipment and systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
2. Investigate various energy-efficient technologies and their application to site conditions.
3. Perform LL87 studies and reporting
4. Complete detailed engineering calculations of energy savings and carbon emissions (Local Law 97) savings and define financial benefits.
5. Present concepts and detailed solutions to building owners.
6. Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Manage bid processes and coordination with vendors / subcontractors.
8. Manage project tracking in various databases and systems, and report on status periodically to owners and NYSERDA.
9. Compile, submit, and track utility incentive application packages.
10. Write detailed, quarterly reports and case studies.
11. Conduct thorough energy audits and assessments to identify opportunities for energy savings.
12. Assist clients in navigating Local Law 97 compliance requirements, including benchmarking, reporting, and implementing retro-commissioning measures.
13. Develop and implement energy management strategies and programs.
14. Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot energy system inefficiencies.
15. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project scheduling and execution.
16. Collect and analyze data related to energy consumption, production, and efficiency metrics.
17. Engage in mechanical design processes to enhance existing systems or develop new solutions.
18. Stay updated with advancements in quantum engineering and its applications in energy systems.
19. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings, recommendations, and project progress.
Experience Requirements :
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in Energy Engineering (Mechanical and / or Electrical) and Project Management.
- Familiarity with large commercial and residential building systems, controls systems, and commissioning processes.
- Knowledge of NYC Local Laws, energy codes, and utility incentive programs.
- Proven experience working with vendors / contractors and managing contractors.
- Experience in research related to energy efficiency technologies or sustainable practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with project scheduling methodologies and tools is an advantage.
- Strong experience with energy, building, and construction codes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis.
