Job Title: Senior Energy Engineer
Location: New York City, NY
Role: Hybrid (Must be located or willing to relocate to the NYC area)
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Energy Engineer to join our team in New York City. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, implementation, and optimization of energy retrofit projects for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, energy efficiency measures, and sustainability practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Development: Lead the identification and analysis of energy-saving opportunities, including energy audits, feasibility studies, and conceptual designs for projects.
- Client Engagement: Work closely with clients to understand their energy needs, present proposals, and develop customized solutions that align with their goals.
- Financial Modeling: Create detailed financial models that quantify the potential savings, return on investment (ROI), and payback periods for energy efficiency projects.
- Proposal Writing: Prepare comprehensive proposals that outline technical and financial aspects of projects, ensuring all regulatory and contractual requirements are met.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (engineers, sales, construction) to ensure smooth project delivery from concept through completion.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal energy efficiency standards, incentives, and regulations.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Select and manage third-party vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for project execution.
- Performance Monitoring: Oversee the implementation and post-installation monitoring of energy-saving measures to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on energy retrofit projects.
- Working experience with Building Management Systems/Building Automation Systems (BMS/BAS)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy management systems, and building automation.
- Proficiency in energy modeling software such as eQUEST, EnergyPlus, or similar tools.
- Experience with energy audit methodologies and tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of NYC Energy Conservation Code, Local Law 87, and other relevant regulations.
- LEED accreditation or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is a plus.
