What are the responsibilities and job description for the UX Designer (Remote) position at Cru?

The UX team envisions how people experience our digital products, inspiring like minded believers to take next steps in our common mission. Our team takes complex tasks and transforms them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use designs. You will need to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of content producers, digital marketers, software engineers and non-technical subject matter experts from other departments. We design our experiences from user stories that our team will transform into user flows, wireframes, prototypes and fully-functional front-end code that creates a harmonious experience across products. At each stage in the process you will be a passionate advocate for our users.
The Kind of Work You’ll be Doing:
1. Responsible for design and development of engaging user experiences for a variety of applications. Demonstrate a basic and growing understanding of user-centered design and related design methodologies. Proficient knowledge of Human Centered Design principles.
2. Study and evaluate how users feel about a system, looking at things like ease of use, perception of the value of the system, utility, efficiency in performing tasks, etc.
3. Translate user needs and ministry requirements into features and functionality for web/mobile experiences. Participate in the discovery process for JFP’s products, and channels.
4. Rapidly prototype and evaluate designs including wireframes, paper and interactive prototypes, storyboards, as a result of ingesting field feedback around ministry problems we seek to solve.
5. Participate in the design process utilizing design sprints and ongoing processes for discovery, ideation and prototyping.
6. Collaborate with product owners, content strategists, front-end developers and programmers to design better user experiences that enable users to take the next best step in following Jesus.
7. Work on the design of beautiful looking web pages and mobile user experiences.
8. Pursue a deep understanding of user motivations, JFP/Cru objectives and digital opportunities. seeing the impact and value of HCD approach, content and design strategies.
9. Advocate usability best practices for internal and customer facing applications.
Required Experience:
Minimum 2 Year / Associate Degree in HCI (Human Computer Interaction), graphic/visual design, or related field equivalent work; 1-3 years of experience in digital, software or interaction design; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
