Summary:

The Director of Digital Operations at the Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority (CCTDA) will be responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s digital ecosystem, working directly with the Associate Executive Director (AED) and CCTDA’s digital marketing agency. This role will oversee website optimization, digital content management, third-party platform integrations, and CRM systems to ensure a seamless and efficient digital experience.

In addition to managing digital operations, this position will support CCTDA’s digital marketing efforts by aligning technical platforms with content strategies, including SEO, email marketing, social media, and analytics. A strong understanding of both digital infrastructure and marketing strategy is essential to enhance user engagement, drive technological innovation, and maintain CCTDA’s leadership in tourism marketing.

The CCTDA is an independent, quasi-government organization tasked with growing tourism-related economic growth in Carteret County, NC. As a small, efficient operation, we operate in a team environment; therefore, it is necessary that all staff of the CCTDA work closely together and, in many cases, share operational responsibilities. This leadership position must share in this culture and lead by example.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Digital Strategy & Ecosystem Management

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Associate Executive Director, and digital marketing agencies to develop and execute digital strategies, campaigns and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and objectives, ensuring seamless execution and consistency across all digital channels.
  • Oversee CCTDA’s digital ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration across platforms, including the website, CRM, CMS, and third-party platforms, to support marketing, visitor engagement, and system-wide performance.
  • Work with agency partners and internal teams to optimize platform functionality, enhance user experience, and implement data-driven improvements across all digital channels.
  • Ensure all digital initiatives, from content marketing to technical platform enhancements, are strategically aligned and executed effectively.
  • Collaborate with the AED, Executive Director (ED), and digital marketing agencies to align digital marketing initiatives (social media, email marketing, SEO, and content strategy) with the broader digital framework.

Website & Technology Operations

  • Oversee website management and performance, ensuring content remains up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Optimize CMS and CRM functionality to support visitor engagement, lead generation, and operational efficiency.
  • Implement SEO best practices in collaboration with the AED, ED, and SEO agency to improve visibility and search rankings.
  • Work with third-party vendors to implement system updates, troubleshoot issues, and enhance platform capabilities, ensuring security, accessibility, and seamless functionality.
  • Conduct routine audits of website and digital platforms to proactively identify and resolve content inaccuracies, technical issues, and usability concerns affecting visitor experience.
  • Oversee technical execution of digital content, including blogs, landing pages, email marketing templates, and marketing materials, in coordination with internal teams and agency partners.
  • Identify and implement digital tools or integrations that improve automation, system efficiency, and user engagement, ensuring alignment with current needs.

Data Analytics & Performance Optimization

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on digital performance across all platforms, ensuring data-driven decision-making aligns with CCTDA’s strategic goals.
  • Utilize GA4, internal dashboards, and CRM analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as website traffic, visitor engagement, conversion rates, and social media insights.
  • Oversee third-party platform performance, assessing user behavior, campaign effectiveness, and optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the AED, ED, and digital agencies to refine digital strategies based on analytics and performance trends.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations for website enhancements, SEO improvements, and digital campaign optimizations.
  • Regularly assess email marketing, paid media, and content effectiveness, making data-driven adjustments to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Ensure data accuracy, proper tracking implementation, and compliance with industry standards and privacy policies.

Event Coordination and Partner Support

  • Collaborate with the Visitor Center Manager to ensure event submissions on the Crystal Coast website are accurate, relevant, and optimized for visibility, providing support as needed for updates and troubleshooting.
  • Work with local accommodation partners to maintain and update seasonal specials on the website, ensuring information is current and effectively promoted.
  • Oversee event promotion efforts by coordinating with the digital marketing agencies and local partners to enhance visibility across digital channels, aligning with broader marketing initiatives.
  • Provide digital support and resources to local tourism stakeholders, including best practices for maximizing exposure through CCTDA’s digital platforms.

Knowledge and Awareness

  • Stay ahead of emerging industry trends in digital marketing, technology, and tourism, ensuring CCTDA remains a leader in destination marketing.
  • Evaluate and assess emerging technologies and industry innovations to provide long-term strategic recommendations for enhancing digital engagement.
  • Monitor digital accessibility standards and compliance to ensure an inclusive and seamless experience across all platforms.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including industry conferences and collaborative discussions, to strengthen expertise and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Information Systems, Business Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital marketing and/or digital operations, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and project coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Expertise in digital strategies, tools, and platforms, including website management, content management systems (CMS), customer relationship management (CRM), SEO, data analytics, and digital advertising.
  • Strong understanding of digital ecosystems, including third-party platform management, website optimization, and integration of digital tools to enhance visitor engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing digital marketing and operations functions, ensuring seamless execution across platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of tourism-related attractions, services, and amenities of the Crystal Coast.
  • Knowledge and understanding of online tools and platforms, including blogs, forums, Sprout Social/Hootsuite, Facebook (including META and Facebook ads), Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and other relevant digital communities.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Experience working with web content management systems such as WordPress and similar. Experience with Simpleview products a plus.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite Premier Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, or other editing software.
  • Basic photography and/or video production/editing experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in performance tracking, reporting, and making data-driven optimizations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in social media management and content writing. (Required).
  • Exceptional computer skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and/or MAC OS-related platforms (Keynote, Pages, Numbers, or other relevant software).
  • Team player who understands the need to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Employee must have a valid North Carolina driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Position can sometimes include evening and weekend work and occasionally include out-of-town travel.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs and transport equipment and materials on an ongoing and regular basis.
  • Employee may be required to work both inside and outside the office and may experience long periods of sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and listening.

May perform other duties as assigned.
