Clinical Residential Support Specialist, Children’s Services
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour depending on experience Shift Differential $4.50 per hour ($5.00 for weekends).
The Clinical Residential Support Specialist works as a member of the Children’s Services Behavioral services and Nursing services departments to provide coordination of whole person care for our students in maintaining their physical health, well-being and behavioral needs by incorporating physicians’ orders, plans of care (both nursing and behavioral) and appropriate policies, procedures and protocols under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Director of Behavioral Services. The Clinical Residential Support Specialist provides in-service instruction to all staff, (on-going in-service training and orientation of new staff), particularly, in the areas of implementation of applied behavior analysis and health needs including hygiene, specialized procedures, and Positive Behavior Supports.
Position Summary:
The Clinical Residential Support Specialist provides whole person care to the students. Such care must be in accordance with current federal and state law and regulation, agency policies, procedures and staff directives to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times for the students of Crystal Springs. The Clinical Residential Support Specialist must at all times, act in a professional manner, adhere to the identified code of ethics, and have the ability to multi-task.
Essential Functions:
  • Provide a high level of direct clinical (both medical and behavioral support) for students served and staff through observations, modeling, teaching, role-playing, and coaching. Obtaining vital signs; Repositioning non-ambulatory clients; Performing g-tube feeds and flushes, Administering glycerin suppositories and/or enemas, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Behavioral Team and Nursing Team under the supervision to provide staff trainings, data collection, implement and model both medical and behavior support plans and positive behavior supports. Conduct preference assessments, implement and model implementation of skill acquisition plans, conduct treatment integrity checks.
  • Provide medically and behavioral related assistance to LPNs and Behavior Services staff as directed including brief student status checks. Monitor and effectively communicate the general health status of participants, including hygiene issues, skin integrity, and behavioral presentation.
  • Model implementation of all behavior support plans, positive behavior supports, and teaching strategies for direct staff.
  • Assist in ensuring that all staff are trained on each student served support plans, plan of care, and data collection system.
  • Accompany students to class, residences, appointments, outings, or emergency trips to ER as needed.
  • Administer emergency services such as first aid, CPR and assist direct staff in crisis intervention for any student served including active participation in physical restraint procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain all required documentation and progress notes in accordance with DEEC, DESE, DCF, DDS and other best practice standards.
  • Meet DEEC/DESE requirements for in-service training hours (24 hours-full time).
  • Be ready, willing and able to drive the Company’s wheelchair and/or mini-vans according to Massachusetts driving laws.

Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift – 2nd or 3rd shift
Education:
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
  • Caregiving experience as a CNA, a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Current RBT (preferred) or experience implementing behavioral plans and with persons who have challenging behaviors and willing to obtain nursing skills training
  • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities is a plus.
License/Certification:
  • High School and/or GED is required.
  • CNA MA Certification or RBT Certification is required.
  • Driver's License is required.
