JOB PURPOSE:
The Director of Behavioral Services is responsible for the development, planning, and delivery of all behavioral health services at Crystal Springs. This includes designing and implementing behavior analytic programs, coordinating the daily operations of the Behavioral Services Department, and supervising a team of behavior professionals. The Director ensures services are high-quality, person-centered, and aligned with best practices in applied behavior analysis. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director contributes to the organization’s strategic initiatives and fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and trauma-informed care.

The Director of Behavioral Services ensures the delivery of ethical and effective behavior analytic practices across Crystal Springs' programs. They are a collaborative leader and passionate advocate for the individuals supported by the agency and their families. The Director oversees all behavioral staff, including BCBAs and technicians, and provides on-call support for behavioral emergencies. This position requires deep knowledge of autism, applied behavior analysis (ABA), current research, and strong communication and leadership skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience with BACB supervision eligibility).
- Minimum five (5) years post-graduate experience leading behavior intervention programs, including work with individuals with severe behaviors, trauma histories, and multiple disabilities.
- Experience leading, supervising, and developing high-performing clinical teams.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required.
- Must have an active driver’s license in state of residence that is current, valid, and in good standing with reliable transportation.
- Lead, manage, and coordinate the daily operations of the Behavioral Services Department, including workload distribution, documentation systems, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Oversee the development and strategic planning of behavioral health programs, including the design and revision of behavioral analytic services based on current research, data, and organizational needs.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of all Behavioral Services staff.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to behavioral services, including behavior analytic interventions, data collection, crisis intervention, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with nursing, education, day program, residential, and family service teams to ensure cohesive interdisciplinary care.
- Liaise with external consultants, such as behavioral pediatricians and medical directors, to support comprehensive person-centered care.
- Conduct and review functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Design and oversee the use of data-based monitoring systems to evaluate residents’ progress and ensure fidelity of implementation.
- Interpret behavioral data to guide program modifications and ensure effective outcomes.
- Provide in-service training and ongoing professional development in areas including but not limited to ABA practices, Positive Behavior Supports, data collection, and restraint reduction.
- Serve as the organization’s Restraint Coordinator, ensuring compliance with physical intervention protocols, conducting training, and participating in intervention procedures when necessary.
- Cooperate in internal investigations and participate in incident reviews/debriefs, and quality improvement processes.
- Assure and monitor departmental compliance with all applicable state and federal licensor/funder regulatory standards and BACB guidelines.
- Participate in and/or lead organizational committees and projects as assigned.
- Assure adequate departmental coverage on campus and provide 24-hour on-call support on a rotational basis for behavioral crises and consultation needs in a 24/7, 365 days/year environment.
- Functions as an ambassador and liaison for Crystal Springs.
- Contributes to organization success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results.
