Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Structured Cabling Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-voltage cabling, including the installation, termination, and testing of copper and fiber optic cables. As a Lead Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing project teams, ensuring that installations are completed on time, within budget, and according to industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of technicians on structured cabling projects.
- Plan and execute the installation of low-voltage cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optics, and other related infrastructure.
- Perform cable terminations, labeling, and testing using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to network cabling.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring schematics.
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, including as-built drawings and test results.
- Train and mentor junior technicians to improve team performance and skill levels.
- Conduct site surveys and assist in project estimation and planning.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage installations.
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in installing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber optic cables.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- BICSI certification (e.g., Installer 2, Technician) or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
