Essential Functions
1. Manage and execute prescribed burns to maintain forest health and reduce wildfire risk
2. Conduct fuel assessments and develop plans for fuels reduction projects
3. Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective wildland fire management strategies
4. Develop and implement educational programs to promote fire safety and prevention
5. Work closely with incident command teams to respond to wildfires and other emergencies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, range management, or a related field
- Two years of experience in prescribed fire and fuels management
- Red card qualification as a Firing Boss (FIRB) trainee
- Prior wildland firefighting experience on the fireline
- Valid State of Montana driver's license
- Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) and Single Resource Boss (CRWB, ENGB, HEQB, FELB) qualifications
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to travel to remote locations
