Prescribed Fire & Fuels Specialist (Forester)
The Tribal Forestry Division of Fire is seeking a qualified applicant with a Bachelor's degree in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a natural resources subject-matter field directly related to the position.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a natural resources subject-matter field
- Two years of specialized experience as a Prescribed Fire and Fuels Technician, Forestry Technician, or higher graded position that provides knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties of the position
- Red card qualifications as a Firing Boss (FIRB) trainee
- Meet FIRB full qualifications within two years of hire
- Red card qualifications as a Single Resource Boss (CRWB, ENGB, HEQB, FELB)
- Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) qualification
- Valid State of Montana Driver's License for vehicle operation
- Prior wildland firefighting experience on the fireline or equivalent experience outside the Tribal government
Essential Functions:
- Continuously meet Interagency Incident Qualifications System (IQCS) requirements as an Incident Commander Type 5 and a Single Resource Boss
- Qualify for Firing Boss (FIRB) trainee and obtain full qualification as FIRB within two years of hire
- Meet Department of Interior federal Interagency Wildland Firefighter Medical Qualification Standards for arduous duty wildland firefighting
Employment Requirements:
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy
- The successful applicant must pass a pre-hire drug test if not already employed by the Tribes
