The CSKT Fire Management is seeking a Fuels and Fire Specialist to work on tribal lands, developing and implementing prescribed fire plans, managing fuels, and preventing wildfires. About the Position
The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of wildland fire management principles and practices, including red card qualifications as a Firing Boss (FIRB) trainee, Single Resource Boss (CRWB, ENGB, HEQB, FELB), and Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5). They will also be responsible for managing fuels and vegetation on tribal lands to reduce wildfire risk, working with stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential fire hazards, and collaborating with other agencies and organizations to share best practices and stay up-to-date on industry developments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement prescribed fire plans in collaboration with tribal land managers and forestry professionals
- Manage fuels and vegetation on tribal lands to reduce wildfire risk
- Work with stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential fire hazards
- Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to share best practices and stay up-to-date on industry developments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as forestry or range management
- At least two years of experience working in wildland fire management
