**Job Summary:**
">We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist - Plasma Collection to join our team at CSL Plasma. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
In this role, you will be expected to perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring, and donor disconnect. You will also evaluate vein performance to identify possible problems, make necessary corrections, and expedite donation time while ensuring product quality and donor safety.
As a Phlebotomy Specialist - Plasma Collection, you will explain the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other pertinent information to donors. You will maintain alertness to any reactions by donors, assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff as needed.
You will use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events. Additionally, you will troubleshoot equipment failures, create incident documentation, remove and/or replace equipment from service, and monitor donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover.
Other responsibilities include collecting arm samples or whole blood samples from donors for testing, ensuring accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, understanding policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs, and following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
- Minimum 18 months experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens
