Job Summary:
 
The Estimating Take-Off Specialist is responsible for reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates. This role plays a critical part in accurately assessing the scope of work and providing cost information that supports competitive bidding and project planning.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan Analysis: Review architectural, structural, and civil engineering drawings, project specifications, and other related documents to determine material quantities and labor requirements.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Accurately measure and quantify materials such as concrete, piping, electrical components, or other required resources using estimating software or manual methods.
  • Cost Estimation: Collaborate with the estimating team to calculate project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Bid Preparation: Assist in assembling competitive bids by providing accurate and timely take-off data.
  • Communication: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details and resolve discrepancies.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all take-offs, calculations, and supporting documents for reference during project execution.
  • Software Utilization: Utilize specialized estimating software and tools to streamline the take-off process and enhance accuracy.
  • Industry Research: Stay informed about material pricing trends, labor rates, and industry standards to provide up-to-date cost projections.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience: 2 years' experience in an Estimator role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst), MS Office Suite (especially Excel), and project management software.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction processes, building codes, and regulations and prior site work experience.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to visit construction sites, which may require standing, walking, and climbing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with specialized estimating software.
Salary Range:
  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, with potential for bonuses based on project success and company performance.
