What are the responsibilities and job description for the CEP Special Projects Coordinator position at CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services Corporation (ASC)?
Under the supervision of the CSUF Center for Educational Partnerships (CEP) Director and Associated Director, Special Projects Coordinator will provide leadership and assistance in developing and implementing various initiatives, activities, events, and academic enrichment opportunities that advance the mission and efforts of the department. The Special Projects Coordinator will communicate and collaborate regularly with the CEP team to develop and support programs and initiatives that expose, motivate and promote postsecondary access and success. The Special Projects Coordinator will develop and support strong partnerships with key stakeholders and partners. Based on program needs as determined by the CEP Director, this position may be required to work out of various locations including the CSUF campus, CEP target schools, or other locations.
*Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or new Grant/Contract.
- Assists with the proposal, planning, content development, coordination of logistics, implementation, and evaluation of:
- programs and activities (including workshops, field trips, campus tours, and special events) for participants, parents/guardians, community partners, and other constituents.
- systems for documenting and tracking programs, participation, attendance, and demographic data for CEP services.
- organization and accuracy of digital and tangible files and records.
- initiatives to increase the visibility of CEP among CSUF, partner school sites, and community audiences.
- efforts to increase participation and engagement of service area students and recruit new student staff or student volunteers, as determined by program need.
- professional development, support, community building and training for CEP staff members.
- Research and preparation of performance reports, evaluation, and assessments for internal use, the CSUF, and other project funders.
- Supervises a college student team, as assigned, to ensure the achievement of project/event objectives and success.
- Manage, update, and maintain university website for CEP visibility.
- Maintains and develops close relationships with key stakeholders.
- Travel to target schools and off-campus sites as assigned.
- Represent the Center for Educational Partnership programs, and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) during university and community events.
- Attend staff meetings and staff development sessions (including various mandatory training sessions).
- Some early morning, evening, weekend, and overnight work, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working for a program focused on the retention and academic performance of underrepresented students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience planning and conducting workshops, implementing academic advising initiatives, coordinating field trips and special events, and/or providing information about higher education.
- Knowledge of the various segments of post-secondary institutions and opportunities for low income and underrepresented students.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to clearly and accurately relay information to participants, school/district personnel, key stakeholders, and partners.
- Ability to work effectively with numerous members of the professional academic communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse constituencies.
- Demonstrated organizational, time management, multitasking, and administrative skills.
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
- Proficiency working with computers and popular software packages, such as but not limited to, MS Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Reliable, responsible, punctual, and self-directed.
- Must be available to work assigned hours per week, with most hours falling between 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
- Must be available to work early morning, evening, weekend, and overnight work, as required.
- Must be able to pass and maintain a clean live scan check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working for a program focused on the retention and academic performance of secondary or undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in overcoming disadvantages of circumstances like those of the population in the target area.
- Experience providing leadership and/or supervision for the work of others.
- Experience independently planning, developing, and executing complex projects, systems, and procedures.
- Ability to speak and write in Spanish.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Work, Education, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
