Position Summary
Serving as an integral member of CSU’s University Advancement Engagement Marketing and Communications team, the Advancement Marketing and Communications Specialist will help drive University Advancement’s mission of connecting alumni and donors to their passions by supporting the creation, execution, and management of alumni- and donor-centric marketing and communications strategies and large-scale fundraising campaigns. With a focus on project management, the Advancement Marketing and Communications Specialist will be a strong collaborator and organized communicator responsible for contributing to and managing key deliverables and timelines for programs that inspire, engage, solicit, and retain alumni and donors. This position also provides content generation and design support for strategic multi-channel communications and through a lens of excellence and continuous improvement, collaborates and supports team members on the collection, analysis, reporting, and management of communications metrics and KPIs. Underscoring the importance of collaboration, this position supervises a team of student employees responsible for supporting donor events and manages operations associated with the team’s online communications and digital asset platforms including Canva, Widen, Rev, and RSS.

Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field
- Minimum two years of work experience
- Ability to work independently and with different teams to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, proofreading, and key tenets of journalism, including AP style
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse audiences
- Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date
- Knowledge of current communications industry trends
- Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Basecamp, Workfront, and related digital asset management platforms
- Experience in the development of graphic design materials
- Strong commitment to teamwork and positive outcomes
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms
- Understanding of KPI’s and communications analytics and measurement tools, such as Google Analytics GA4 and Tag Manager
- Experience in higher education
- Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field
Job Duty Category Project Management Duty/Responsibility
- Manages annual Marketing and Communications calendar that supports approved Marketing and Communications plan. Monitors key program dates and deliverables and communicates timelines to support team’s resource plans.
- Coordinates team’s Asana project intake plan and organizes approved projects into workflow process
- Establishes essential production and distribution timelines and collaborates with team to assign and manage content and creative resources
- Provides regular updates on project progress through completion
- Assists with logistics surrounding the schedules, locations, and production of essential video and photo sessions
- Assists with writing digital and print content for various communications outlets including emails, websites, newsletters, social media, magazines, and websites
- Assists with managing the editorial calendar for the Gratitude donor newsletter
- Creates communications graphics in Canva as needed
- Collaborates with team members to collect, analyze, report and manage metrics for digital and print communications (i.e. email, newsletters, websites, video, etc.)
- Hires, trains, and supervises the pool of student employees supporting the outward-facing functions UAE
- Oversees project intake process, schedules, and hours, and makes decisions about scheduling priorities.
- Ensure a strong team environment where all employees feel valued, their ideas welcomed, and their contributions affirmed; contribute to the overall UA division goals.
- Manages operational needs associated with online communications and digital asset management platforms including Canva, Widen, Rev, and RSS.com.
- Reviews licenses, adds and removes users from platforms, and manages associated meetings and Teams channels.
