Position Summary
The Temporary Payroll Administrator position will be responsible for performing all facets of payroll and accounting duties to support the payroll team during the Workday project. This includes processing payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, maintaining payroll records, and addressing employee inquiries related to payroll. The role will also assist with reconciliations, reporting, payroll entry data entry and other payroll-related tasks to ensure smooth operations while key team members are focused on the Workday project. The position is designed to provide temporary support and ensure the continued efficiency of payroll functions during a transitional period. This position is expected to continue through February 28, 2026.
Required Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business, Accounting or a related field with 2 years of payroll processing experience.
Payroll Processing: Proven experience in accurately processing payroll, including employee hours, deductions, benefits and account reconciliations.
Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies.
Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues efficiently.
Communication Skills: Excellent ability to address and resolve employee payroll inquiries in a professional manner.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Record Maintenance: Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and confidential payroll records in compliance with legal requirements.
System Knowledge: Familiarity with payroll systems, financial systems, advanced Excel skills.

Responsible for processing payroll for university faculty, staff, and student employees, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits. Ensure compliance with university policies, federal, state, and local tax laws, and labor regulations, while maintaining accurate records and account reconciliations for auditing and reporting purposes.
Percentage Of Time 80 Job Duty Category Employee Support and Reporting Duty/Responsibility
Provide assistance to university employees with payroll-related inquiries, including salary, benefits, and tax deductions. Prepare payroll reports ensuring timely submission of tax filings, year-end reports, and other necessary documentation.
