The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) is a major locus for biomedical education including undergraduate, graduate, veterinary and post-doctoral training and for translational biomedical research at Colorado State University. BMS houses more than 30 research laboratories. Faculty members’ interests run the gamut from human and animal anatomy and neuroanatomy, reproductive biology and endocrinology to molecular neuroscience and cardiovascular physiology. The BMS department is highly interactive and offers postdoctoral fellows a friendly but rigorous learning environment. There is ample opportunity for informal interactions between fellows and faculty, thus encouraging the kind of discussions and collaborations that are critical to success in the cutting-edge atmosphere of modern biomedical research. Program faculty members are housed in modern research buildings with state-of-the-art equipment. All of the training faculty members have laboratories that are within relatively close proximity. University facilities that support research efforts include electron microscopes, flow cytometer and fluorescent activated cell sorter, confocal microscopes, DNA, RNA and protein sequencing and syntheses labs, a mass spectrometer lab, and facilities for genomics, proteomics, and transgenic animal research. The hard work of research is balanced by the unique opportunity to enjoy the mountains and canyons of beautiful Colorado.
Position Summary
The postdoctoral associate will focus on multiple projects investigating the role of the brain in the control of reproduction, primarily in sheep, though some mouse and cell culture models may be available. The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in grant and manuscript preparation. Additional duties may include supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.

Plan and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, read relevant scientific literature, assist in preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals, maintain experimental records. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to multiple projects investigating the role of the brain in the control of reproduction using sheep as an animal model. The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in grant and manuscript preparation.
Percentage Of Time 80 Job Duty Category Technical Support Duty/Responsibility
Involvement in daily laboratory activities, interactions including some instruction with students and lab personnel, which can include procedural instruction, statistical methods, and research project interactions. The candidate will be expected to participate in meetings and provide input and assistance, as needed, for other projects in the laboratory. Ensure proper care of animal subjects and regulatory compliance.

Required Job Qualifications
- PhD in neuroscience, physiology, reproductive biology, or related field by time of appointment
- Laboratory research experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Established publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Ability and desire to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness and ability to participate in large animal research with sheep
- Experience with sheep, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, surgical procedures, statistical methods
