Position Summary
The TRIO Student Success Specialist supports the academic, professional, and personal growth of students participating in the TRIO program. By providing individualized coaching, facilitating workshops, and engaging in outreach, the Specialist empowers students to achieve their educational and career goals. This role also ensures program compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies, contributing to a culture of equity and access in higher education.

Key Responsibilities
1. Student Support and Development (70%)
- Design and lead workshops on academic, professional, and personal development, including orientation and retreats.
- Provide individualized coaching tailored to students' academic and co-curricular needs.
- Collaborate with students to create clear, actionable educational plans aligned with career goals.
- Maintain consistent communication with students through phone, email, text, and social media, monitoring progress and providing support.
2. Administrative Responsibilities (15%)
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities, including state and regional conferences.
- Assist with grant compliance by staying informed on federal regulations and institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.
- Contribute to annual performance reports and compliance audits.
- Organize and maintain student data and documentation in program databases.
3. Outreach and Engagement (10%)
- Represent the TRIO program at outreach events, including tabling, classroom presentations, and community engagement.
- Connect with current and prospective students, faculty, and staff to promote program awareness.
4. Additional Duties (5%)
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, especially first-generation, low-income, or underrepresented groups.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of academic advising, educational planning, and co-curricular programming.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Familiarity with federal TRIO programs, policies, and regulations.
