Position Summary
The Sr. Sales Manager position is responsible for driving firestop and architectural products (expansion joint cover, fire barrier, stair nosing, trench and access covers and entry mat) sales objectives and managing the department budget. This role will work with their team to establish new direct and indirect sales channels, develop and implement strategic sales and promotions programs, and support the sales team so they are able to deliver sales objectives.
Responsibilities
- Drive yearly sales growth to meet or exceed annual budgets for all products.
- Identify new sales opportunities, forge and maintain relationships with customers, negotiate contracts, and close agreements.
- Create and implement sales processes and support structure for new and existing markets, and identify areas for process improvement.
- Monitor sales metrics, perform data analysis, and provide reports to segment leadership.
- Create and deliver effective sales presentations and attend industry trade shows and events.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage the internal and external sales team and ensure that employees have proper training, resources, and direction in order to set them up for success in achieving their sales targets.
- Monitor team and individual employee performance and provide coaching as needed.
- Create and update annual sales agreements for direct reports to align with business objectives.
Qualifications (Knowledge & Skills)
- Able to effectively lead a team of sales professionals by providing direction, measuring quality of work, giving feedback, and managing performance.
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve sales goals through direct and indirect sales channels.
- Strong knowledge of the competitive landscape including products, price points, relative trade and contracting groups, and how to compete successfully in the territory
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally with team members and customers verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and build relationships with customers.
- Able to create and present effective sales presentations in-person and virtually.
- Strong organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
- Proficient in MS Office software, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint, along with Salesforce CRM, Dodge Construction, and other industry software.
- Knowledge of commercial construction and/or architectural practices and knowledge of International Building Code (IBC).
Education
- Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management or a similar field is required. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Experience
- 7 years of experience in commercial sales and/or marketing is required. Experience in the sale of building supply materials or architecturally specified products is preferred.
- Experience with firestop or expansion joint cover products strongly preferred.
- Experience leading an exclusive dealer network, or independent rep firms preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team of salespeople or similar roles is required.
Other Requirements
- Physical- This position operates in an office environment and on construction job sites. Candidates must have a dedicated workspace and they must be able to safely maneuver a typical construction environment and utilize all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Travel- this role requires approximately 30% travel throughout the U.S. and Canada.
- This role is required to drive. Candidates who apply for positions that require driving must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record. An MVR and proof of insurance will be required as part of the pre-employment background check process.
The hiring range for this position is: $140,000 - $198,000. This includes base salary annual sales bonus.
