About Us : Child Care for CTs mission is to transform the child care system in Connecticut by building sustained public funding for child care to achieve our transformative vision of an equitable early childhood system that supports Connecticuts families and economy.

Our coalition is open to all business leaders, parents, providers, advocates, and community leaders who want to participate in creating transformative change. We are strictly non-partisan and strive to recruit members and leaders from diverse backgrounds. As part of these efforts, we provide resources in English and Spanish to all residents of Connecticut.

Position Summary : We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Field Organizer to join our team. The Field Organizer will be critical in building grassroots support, mobilizing communities, and advancing our childcare advocacy goals. This role involves outreach to community members, scheduling and organizing virtual and on-the-ground events, volunteer coordination, public engagement, and data input.

Location : Remote and flexible schedule, with travel expected to Hartford and across the state to engage coalition members and other stakeholders in person, as needed. In-person travel will increase during the Connecticut Legislative Session.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, childcare providers, parents, and local leaders
  • Recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers to participate in campaigns and events
  • Schedule and organize virtual and in-person events, including informational house parties, community meetings, town halls, and listening sessions to gather input and build support
  • Represent the coalition at community events, conferences, and advocacy meetings
  • Collect and share stories from families and providers to highlight the importance of childcare access
  • Input data for data management and maintain accurate records of activities, contacts, and campaign progress using Every Action
  • Collaborate with the coalitions communications team to amplify messages through social media and traditional media
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Skills :

  • Passion for advocacy and systems change
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in community organizing, grassroots advocacy, or campaign work
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Familiarity with the childcare landscape or willingness to learn
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Proficiency in Every Action, Google Workspace, Canva, etc.
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Policy analysis / policy communications
  • Minimum Qualifications are as follows :

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associates or higher-level degree in Political Science, Policy, Public Administration, or a related field OR
  • Five (5) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, policy or campaign work experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A and B above.
  • Supervisor : Director of Organizing and Strategic Partnerships

    Job Context : Indoors, office, constant repetitive motions, constant sitting, occasional standing, no environmental or job hazards, occasional light work, in-state travel. This position is a remote position.

    Compensation

  • Annual salary within the range of $50,000 to $55,000 paid biweekly, depending upon education and experience.
  • Full-time position of 35 hours per week, hours may vary and will include travel to and from meetings throughout the state, and will include some evening and weekend hours
