Position Summary :
The College offers a wide range of two-year liberal arts degrees, occupational and technical certificates and continuing education programs. To foster the transition, retention and graduation of inner-city, low-income and first-generation college students to higher education and to prepare them for careers, the College offers Bridge to College programs that include academic, cultural and social support and college preparation instruction.
The Program Learning Assistant assists the Program Director by performing direct student services to support program participants and promotes the grant program at the College and in area middle and high schools, encouraging and assisting participants to enroll at the College, as well as helping them to persist and graduate from college or to transfer to another post-secondary educational institution. The incumbent also assists in the development and implementation of academic and enrichment activities offered during the academic year as well as during the summer sessions. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining student tracking records and developing program systems.
Example of Job Duties :
Under the direction of the TRiO Upward Bound Program Director, the TRiO Upward Bound Program Learning Assistant is accountable for contributing to the successful operation of the Grant Program through effective performance in these essential duties :
- Delivery of Program services to students.
- Development and administration of program operating systems.
- Assisting with program promotion and implementation.
- Delivery, facilitation and reporting of academic assistance to students.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of : Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field together with up to three (3) years of related experience; or a combination of education, or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following :
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Starting Salary :
Minimum Salary; $54,141 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity. This Grant Funded position has the potential of renewal through August 31, 2027.
