Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:
As a Quality/Manufacturing Engineer, you will own and implement all quality standards based upon LeMar Des Moines
standards, AISC/CE/AWS standards and customer specifications ensuring all jobs are designed and produced on-time,
complete and error free. As well as lead the process improvement effort within the LeMar Des Moines facility.
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role
A. Manufacturing and Process Improvement: 75% of the Job
1. Implementation and sustainment of the Relentless Improvement Program including the RIB process.
2. Train and coach production staff on quality awareness, best practices, and continuous improvement.
3. Evaluate and validate new products, processes, and technologies to ensure they meet quality and
performance criteria.
4. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes utilizing Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies and
identify areas for improvement, optimization, or automation.
5. Develop and test new or modified systems, machines, tools, and methods for manufacturing products
according to specifications and standards.
6. Analyzes, researches and collaborates with others (internal and external) within the area to facilitate the CER
for the purchase of capital equipment ensuring area goals are met.
7. Design and implement factory layouts, production lines, workflows, and procedures that maximize the
utilization of resources and minimize waste.
8. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or problems that arise during the manufacturing process, such as
equipment malfunctions, defects, or delays.
9. Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, quality, procurement, and logistics, to coordinate
production activities and ensure customer satisfaction.
B. Quality: 25% of the Job
1. Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing quality control systems, methods, and processes
to maintain the AISC Structural Fabricator certification for LeMar Des Moines.
2. Plan and conduct quality audits and inspections to ensure continued compliance with AISC requirements.
3. Own and facilitate all Res/OCE Reporting (resolution/On-Time, Complete, and Error Free) process to
ensure all nonconformances are tracked and a root cause analysis is completed to prevent a repeat of the
same issue in the future.
4. Develop and implement quality control procedures, standards, and specifications for raw materials,
components, products, and processes.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, customer
service, etc., to resolve quality-related problems and ensure customer satisfaction.

Position Requirements:
A. Education: Bachelors of science in manufacturing and/or industrial engineering is preferred but other applicable
undergraduate degree and hands on experience will be considered.
B. Experience: 3 years in a manufacturing environment is required, preferred within the steel structural industry.
C. Certification(s): Six Sigma Green/Black belt is preferred. Job Description
D. Functional Skills: Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required for this role. Excellent
planning, prioritizing, attention to detail, and follow-up are also needed to meet the job functions. Experience with
structured processes who can enhance current processes along the way.
E. Technology Aptitude/Skills: ERP experience (Oracle) preferred but not required. Strong aptitude with
technology; can learn quickly and create more efficient processes.
F. Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
G. Leadership/Behaviors: Self-starter who can work independently and learn quickly; ability to clearly
communicate the scope, benefit, and cost of an improvement project.

• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets
and fax machines.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:
• Ability to sit and operate a motor vehicle as needed for travel in this role.
• Ability to sit at desk for 5 hours per day
• Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for majority of day 6-7 hours
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
• Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, walk, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently
• Lifting up to 40 lbs. sporadically
Environmental Conditions & Travel:
• The employee is primarily exposed to both a normal office and production environment. The employee is
occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing
departments.
• This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling.
• Travel: Limited, when necessary/required to visit other facilities and/or customers.
