What You Will Accomplish:
As the Manufacturing & Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and upholding quality standards in accordance with LeMar Des Moines, AISC/CE/AWS standards, and customer specifications. Your role will ensure all projects are delivered on-time, complete, and error-free, while also leading process improvement initiatives within the LeMar Des Moines facility.
What You Will Do:
- Lead, implement, and sustain the Relentless Improvement Program, including the RIB process, driving continuous improvement initiatives and quality best practices.
- Train and support production staff in quality awareness, Lean & Six Sigma methodologies to enhance and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Develop, implement, and test new or modified systems, machines, tools, etc. ensuring alignment with performance standards and strategic goals.
- Analyze, research, and collaborate with internal and external sources to facility CER for purchase of capital equipment – ensuring goals are met.
- Design and improve manufacturing layouts, production lines, and systems to enhance efficiencies, reduce waste, delays, and downtime.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to troubleshoot manufacturing issues, coordinate production efforts, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Design, develop, and implement quality control systems, methods, and processes to maintain the AISC Structural Fabricator certification for LeMar Des Moines.
- Plan and conduct quality audits and inspections to ensure continued compliance with AISC requirements.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or other relevant field; Will consider candidates with relevant work history/coursework.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; Experience in structural steel/sheet metal industry a plus.
- Certification(s): Six Sigma/Lean certifications preferred but not required.
- Functional Skills: Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Excellent experience with planning, prioritizing, and balancing multiple & competing priorities; Exceptional attention to detail with a strong sense of urgency; Previous experience evaluating and improving manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with MS Office; Previous experience with ERP systems; Strong technical/mechanical aptitude.
- Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
