This position is a critical member of the Des Moines LeMar Engineering Team. This position will quote, design, and detail high-quality structural products for our customers in an ethical, focused, and professional manner. |

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role |
|||
Design Process & Project Management Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing code and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience. Layout and detail portions of projects using schematic layout by project lead engineer. May be assigned responsibility for schematic or conceptual layouts when qualified. Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Detailers Reviews, analyzes, and applies modeling results to code conformance requirements. Utilizes a gated design process while keeping a master project list to communicate progress. Creates and develops new structural designs that will meet or exceed customer and regulatory needs. Coordinates and supports prototype construction and validates the product to ensure it meets design and cost specifications. Communicates with the internal manufacturing, supply, and sales teams to ensure all design project goals and deliverables are achieved. Coordinate work with other disciplines on customer projects.
Sales and Customer Support Provides onsite or in field support to customers and sales team with product presentations, technical service, and installation techniques that will meet or exceed the service and brand promise. Supports the activities for product documentation, manuals, sales presentations/tools and technical literature to ensure product features and benefits are accurately documented. Supports and participates in the product training for sales and customer service to enhance the teams’ technical knowledge of product performance, features and benefits.

Position Requirements: |
|||
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Experience: 5-10 years experience within structural steel design; within the agricultural industry being preferred. Certification(s): PE license is preferred but not required. Functional Skills: Solid understanding of structural analysis, structural steel design (AISC 360 and 341), and knowledge of codes (International Building Code, ASCE 7, OSHA 1910). Technology Aptitude/Skills: Knowledge and previous training in 3D structural analysis software, preferably RISA; experience in AutoCAD, Microsoft Suite and Autodesk Inventor. Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions: |

Ability to sit at desk for 5 hours per day Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for majority of day 6-7 hours Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5 hours per day Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and virtually Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly Ability to instruct and/or operate basic hand or power tools Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, climb, and carry and lift to 40 lbs. Ability to climb Grain Bins & Catwalks with heights of up to 150 ft (with safety gear) may also be required on occasion for troubleshooting and problem solving while on-site |
